Augustin Rebetez, born in 1986, lives and works in Mervelier (JU). Photography, drawing, video art

Observing the world around him, Augustin Rebetez gives an allegorical and universal interpretation to aspects of contemporary society. The artist creates photographic portraits of friends during a drunken night out, or of fascinating but unknown characters from his own village, and enhances this photographic reality with fantastic objects, drawings and costumes created in cooperation with his subjects. The result is a world that oscillates between documentary realism and dreamlike representation. By adopting this generous creative approach, the artist is successful in moving and convincing a general audience as well as the more culturally attuned elite.
