Drawing on Sand combines twenty images and three passages of text within a 60 page artist's book. The imagery evokes the passage of one night spent at the sea's edge, and forms a reflection on the postive value of failure and weakness in relation to the life of the heart.

Drawing on Sand was published by Strandline Books in August 2009, as an edition of 240. It is the third in an ongoing series of books by Mat Osmond, whose imagery relates to the coastal landscape of Cornwall, UK, and which are collectively titled Littoral Pieces.
