Death is the subject of this issue, yet we are not concerned with the crude materialism of the grave, the synaptic cease-fire or flat-line.

Throughout human history, the desire to survive beyond mortal demise has driven us to extremes of beauty, cruelty, wealth and invention. Some among us are builders of crafts; vessel in which to chart and colonise the space that lies beyond this life. It is to those that this volume is dedicated.
