Germaine Kruip's first monograph The Illuminated Void will be launched to coincide with the exhibition. The Illuminated Void expands on the concept of writing about a body of work of a single artist by extending the context in which the work is discussed. With a series of essays on wider notions such as the history of perception, social conditioning, the performative and the multiple meanings of scripted space, The Illuminated Void is a new look at contemporary modes of making, and an in depth look at Kruip's work.
The Amsterdam conceptual artist Germaine Kruip--who was trained in theater before becoming a visual artist--presents challenging, often ephemeral works from 2000 to the present in this dense and intelligent monograph. Kruip's work has been featured at the Stedelijk Museum, Frieze Art Fair and Prix de Rome.
