Scheirl's new artist's book connects his oeuvre to his texts torn between shock value, denudation and intimate violence. The authors' theoretical texts are integrated in Scheirl's dense graphic concept formed by physical and intellectual intensity.
Hans Scheirl deals with identity and sexuality as (theoretical) constructs and thereby deconstructs the limitations of life and body politics. Scheirl's transmedial working methods include painting, drawing, photography, film and performance. By combining these genres Scheirl produces sculptural spaces. Scheirl's oeuvre, biography and the development of his own body are merged creating an new artistic unit. Since 1972 Scheirl has kept a diary which he calls his “most continuous artistic practice.”
