How we spent it

How much is the world? The Financial Times responds literally to this question. Since years, in their monthly supplement how to spend it, they present a wide selection of commodities of any kind from everyday products to luxury goods, including prices and values.

Lorma Marti go one step further. In how we spent it, the artists transcribe this world into figures and barcodes based on products, prices and values stated in selected how to spend it issues from the years 2000 until 2008. The result is a promising and sophisticated start for the new series correspondents initiated by the Institute of Design Studio1 at the University of Innsbruck – when opening the issue one sees right into the features of today’s capitalistic society.
