Oleg Ambrosetti was born in Pskov in 1903. He was a Russian chemist of Italian origin and a specialist involved in the chemical processes within the pharmaceutical sector.

As an untiring traveller he used to collect plenty of atlases and illustrated books and spent a few hours every day to cut out an enormous amount of images. He removed these mostly black and white images from their original context and organized them based on a binary system, creating his own fiction.
