teardrops etc. is a one-off magazine dedicated entirely to the theme of the tear –

as an expression of sorrow, joy, emotion, and countless other feelings. Artists and cultural figures from across Cologne were invited to contribute their personal interpretations of this powerful motif.

Nearly fifty contributors from the fields of art, literature, music, media, and academia took part in the project. Their works and reflections are presented across more than 100 pages, combining visual pieces with personal interviews.

The publication opens with an art historical essay by Geraldine Spiekermann, whose academic research focuses on the tear in the visual arts.

As a special feature, the magazine includes a 7" vinyl single featuring “Out of Time,” an exclusive tear-themed song by Johannes Stankowski and Hans Nieswandt – perhaps bringing on a few joyful tears of its own.
