The catalogue to the exhibition Opening the Statelet Archives 1992–2007 commemorates the 15 year anniversary of the virtual state formation, the Scarecrow Statelet.

Milena Kosec founded the phantom Scarecrow Statelet formation on 14 May 1992. Up till its formal dissolution in 2000, the Scarecrow Statelet was an artistic parallel to the Slovene state. The Statelet is a witty, mocking, and self-ironical personification of the characteristics of art in Slovenia in the 1990s. The exhibition presents the ‘leftovers’ and ‘documents’ of the functioning of the Scarecrow Statelet as well as the Statelet’s collection of artworks by contemporary Slovene artists. The collection is made up of ‘acquisitions’ from various exhibitions, works that the artists themselves gave to visitors. The catalogue that delivers a rich source of images and sound theoretical contributions comes with a video documentary. The exhibition was curated by Breda Škrjanec.
