Alice Guareschi was born in 1976 in Parma (Italy), and currently lives and works in Paris. Her work includes a wide range of media, such as video, writing, sculpture and installation.
Guareschi conceives her whole practice as a particular way of writing – which explores the relationship between words, objects, images and empty spaces – and portrays reality through a subtle composition of fragments and selected details. Through associations as a means of materializing leaps of thought and lapses of memory, Guareschi’s work departs from the notion that reality is fluid and always highly subjective. Central to her practice is the idea of the journey – the path that unites two places, the space that separates two objects, the time suspended between two different experiences – as a metaphorical labyrinth or spiral, within which objects and signs speak of a possible loss of direction, or of the multiplication of sight that might result from different and unforeseen perspectives. Alice Guareschi's recent solo shows include Galleria Alessandro De March, Milano; Galleria Sonia Rosso, Torino; Castello di Rivoli, Torino; Galerie DREI, Cologne. Group shows include Exit.
